Dennis C. Shelly, 53, of Lubbock, TX, died on Friday, November 21, 2008 in College Station, TX, as a result of a motor vehicle accident. He had been on a development leave from Texas Tech. University to do research at Texas A. & M. University. Born on February 16, 1955 in Chambersburg, PA, he was the son of Harry C. and Joan L. Armstrong Shelly of Coatesville, PA. A 1973 graduate of James Buchanan High School, he attended Huntington College, Huntington, IN, and received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemistry. In 1978 he married Jean Shoop. In 1982 he received a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Analytical Chemistry from Texas A. & M. University, College Station, TX. Following graduation he worked for Eli Lilly and Co., Indianapolis, IN. Realizing that he wanted to teach he accepted a postdoctoral fellowship at Indiana University, Bloomington, IN.
