Rapid Determination of Sulphide in Tannery Wastewater by Spectrophotometry

摘要

A simple and rapid spectrophotometric flow injection analysis method for the determination of sulphide has been developed. The proposed method was based on the reducibility of sulphide ion by silicon-molybdenum heteropoly acid, resulting in an intense blue complex with absorption at 630nm. The absorbance value of this compound is directly proportional to the concentration. Optimum conditions for determining sulphide were investigated by a univariate method. Under the optimum conditions, a linear calibration graph was obtained over the range 0-200mg I~(-1), the detection limit was 32.8ugl~(-1), the relative standard deviation was 1.86% (n=12) and the standard addition recovery was between 96.12% and 104.50%. The method has been satisfactorily applied for the determination of sulphide in tannery wastewater samples.
