Small firms exporting: how effective are government export assistance programs?

This study uses data from a recent sur- vey of 111 Wisconsin small and medium- sized firms to evaluate some of the recur- ring questions about the impact of gov- ernment assistance programs on the firms' export activity and performance. What is the level of awareness of these Programs among small and medium- Sized firms? Which programs are most Effective? What factors influence the ef- Fectiveness of government export assis- Tance programs? An internationalization Process model was used to segment firms Into four categories. The results suggest That awareness and effectiveness of Export assistance programs varies by the Degree of internationalization of the Firm.
