Adsorption potential of sugarcane bagasse and Zinc sulphate treated sugarcane bagasse for the removal of Victoria blue - 84 dye from aqueous solution by batch adsorption has been estimated. Zinc sulphate treated sugarcane bagasse showed higher removal efficiency over untreated sugarcane bagasse. The adsorbents were characterized by BET, XRD, SEM and FTIR spectroscopic techniques. Effect of different parameters such as initial concentration of Victoria blue - 84 dye, sugarcane bagasse and Zinc sulphate treated sugarcane bagasse dose, contact time, Victoria blue - 84 dye solution pH, and temperature have been studied on adsorptive removal of Victoria blue - 84 dye. Langmuir, adsorption isotherm and pseudo second order kinetic models fitted the equilibrium data.
