摘要

Experiments were conducted on a laboratory scale by anaerobic digestion to treat distillery effluent with special reference to maximum BOD and COD removal, and for maximum methane formation. The BOD and COD removal ranged between 85-93 per cent under steady state conditions thereby indicating that the distillery effluent could be treated by anaerobic process. The bio-kinetic coefficients were evaluated to study the metabolic performance of the microorganisms. Maximum methane production was obtained with the use of calcium carbonate.
