National seminar on the role of R & D institutions in consumer protection - A report

National Botanical Research Institute (NBRI), Lucknow and Bharat Jyoti, a NGO serving for the cause of consumer, jointly organized a one-day seminar on 15 January 2005 at NBRI aimed to create awareness in the society for the need of a strong consumer movement to protect and safeguard their interest. Dr Nityanand, ex-Director, Central Drug Research Institute (CDRI), Lucknow, inaugurated the seminar and stated that it is important for the consumer to know the relative rating of the same goods manufactured by different companies, and also the health risks associated with substandard foods and cosmetics etc.
