摘要

This Special Issue of the Journal of Risk Research focuses on the risks which are able to extend beyond boundaries labeled as regions, territories, and countries. In the recent decades, we have witnessed that the consequences of natural disasters and technological accidents propagate to larger terrains, even though the hotspots occupied geographically defined regions. Whether epidemic (or pandemic) or political/economic turmoil, all countries and regions are exposed to their inevitable shifts at different level, due to increasing complexity, connectivity, and mobility in human activities. Furthermore, emerging risks, which are mostly rooted to the modern society (see Beck 1986; Giddens 1990; Tierney 2014), require innovative and integrated approach to analyze and to manage (see Renn 2008; Rosa, Renn, and McCright 2014).
