Housing, Communities and Local Government Committee Report on Planning Reform

In August 2020, the Government proposed the largest change to the planning system in England for a generation. It would require substantial legislative reform and would not be confined to amendments to policy. In May 2021, the commitment to the reforms was re-affirmed by the inclusion in the Queen's Speech of a Planning Bill.The Housing, Communities and Local Government Committee has now published its consideration of the proposals.~1 The Committee's headline findings are as follows:1.The Government should reconsider the proposed three zones (Growth, Renewal Protect).
