In May 2018, the claimant applied for planning permission and listed building consent in relation to his property at Great Mitton Hall, Mitton. The development proposed in relation to the planning application was the erection of a single-story extension to the south of an existing modern extension to Great Mitton Hall, the reconfiguration of the existing patio and railings, the removal of the pointed arch doorway to the southern wall of the modern extension and its replacement with a window and the re-painting of the existing rendered gable wall to the Hall. In relation to the application for listed buildings consent, the description of the proposed works was the same as the description of the development.
