Solar Farms: Ground Mounted Solar Photovoltaic Developments

The phenomenon of the solar farm has crept up very quickly. In July 2014, it was estimated that 200 solar farms (over 10 acres) existed, 40 were under construction, 150 approved, and 120 in the planning process. In April 2015 the subsidies will be limited. They are running at £100m a year, and are expected to rise to £250m a year. A farmer or other landowner can receive up to £1,000 an acre. Unsurprisingly solar farms are controversial, though not quite so unpopular as oil and gas exploration and exploitation and wind turbines.
