Coiled-Tubing-Conveyed Jet Pump Revives Production

Coiled-tubing (CT)-conveyed jet pump completions are an effective remedial repair method. This economical technique was applied to shut-in wells in a declining oil field. Two Cook Inlet hydraulically pumped oil wells were shut in owing to mechanical problems with damaged downhole hydraulic-pump assemblies. A 3(1/2)-in. tubing packer was used to land 1 (1/4)- in. CT inside the existing 3(1/2)-in. tubing. A 1 (1/4)-in. jet pump, seated at the bottom of the 1 (3/4)-in. CT, would pump reservoir fluids and exhausted hydraulic fluid up the 3 (1/2)-in. x 1 (3/4)-in. annulus.
