'Beyond our means' is a social history of short term savings over the last two centuries. It provides coverage of savings and its relationship with financial security and its insight into: the process of financial education, and the role of different financial paradigms in different social and economic contexts. As an American historian specialising in Japan particularly, the author is well placed to explore international savings movements and the history of savings.
