NORMAN DION LEVINE

Dr. Norman Dion Levine died on 15 July 1999, at Urbana, Illinois, after a long illness. He was a dedicated scientist and educator and one of the best known and most respected parasitologists in the world. He was the author of 19 books, many of which are widely used and cited by scholars and researchers. His passion was protozoan taxonomy, but he was also an authority on the epidemiology of trichostrongyles. Norman belonged to many scientific organizations including the American Society of Parasitologists. He was a highly respected teacher and served on numerous graduate student committees and was the senior advisor of many graduate students, several of whom have distinguished themselves in scientific careers.
