Cyclobutadiene and its derivatives are pivotal mol- ecules in the understanding of the antiaromaticity con- cept. Even more interesiting molecules are those con- taining b both [4n] and [4n+2] π-electron systems called annulenoannulenes, because they incorporate individual and/or peripheral circuits that may made opposing (e.g., stabilizing and destabilizing) contributions to delocaliza- tion energy.
