摘要

Using Faraday effect, measurement of true average power by a single mode fiber optic setup, has been proposed in this article. Two equal length of single mode fiber coil placed over the bus bar in conjunction with adjacent pressure coils which form the magnetic field in the proposed fiber optic arrangement. One arm of fiber, coiled clockwise, has been subjected to a magnetic field where field due to pressure coil adds with field due to current coil and in the other arm coiled anticlockwise, the two field mention are in opposite directions. Theoretical study and experimental results show that the fiber can be used for electrical power measurement, in terms of optical power, in the particular arrangement.
