A laser based light scattering system has been designed and fabricated for measuring the scattering properties of ultrafine TiO_2 particles as a function of scattering angle at the He-Ne laser wavelength 632.8 nm. The system essentially consists of an array of 16 highly sensitive static Si detectors (BPW34) which can measure scattered light signals from 10 degrees to 170 degrees in steps of 1 degree. The signals are interfaced to a high gain 16 channel preamplifier and a dedicated data acquisition system (Vinytics PCI-9812) for data analysis. The measured scattering properties of rutile (TiO_2) particles agree reasonably well with the theoretical results drawn from T-matrix calculations.
