摘要

This paper highlights the program development to increase the efficiency, survivability and reliability of customer access network. The developed program will be installed with optical line terminal (OLT) at the central office (CO) to check the status and detect the failure line that occurs in the drop region of fiber to the home (FTTH) network. Conventionally, the failure line of FTTH network can be measured using optical time domain reflectometer (OTDR) upwardly from customer to the CO. However, OTDR can only display a result of a line in a time and also time and cost misspend. It becomes a hindrance to detect failure of optical line with a large number of customer premises and large coverage area downwardly. The objective of this paper is to collect every testing result to be displayed on a computer screen. The next step is to specify the failure line in drop region of FTTH network. And then to develop a simple, attracting and user-friendly graphical user interface (GUI) for the CFDS by using the MATLAB software. Measurement for each optical line is saved in the OTDR and transferred into the computer for further analysis. This program is able to monitor the status of each optical line and detect the failure in drop region of the FTTH network.
