Nokia Siemens Networks has demonstrated how FlexiGrid technology can upgrade optical transport networks to 400G (gigabits per second). The move is aimed to address the rapidly growing demand for bandwidth among operators today. Using FlexiGrid, the company has conducted the industry's first trial of 400G data transmission over single mode fiber at a distance of over 600 km. The trial was conducted at Nokia Siemens Networks' R&D lab in Munich, Germany.
