The State of Maine Drinking Water Program Making Strides in Emergency Preparedness

Based on a need to update its emergency response plan, the Maine Drinking Water Program committed to reexamine its roles and responsibilities in water system emergency response, to establish the appropriate contact links inside and outside state government, to develop and assemble the plan elements using state-of-the-art presentation techniques, and test the plan through simulated exercises with other participants. This article details the methodology, the achievements, and the challenges faced during the development of the water system emergency response plan.
