Tour the John J. Carroll treatment plant in Marlborough, MA which provides high quality drinking water for 2.3 million metropolitan Boston area customers. This 405 MGD facility, constructed by the Massachusetts Water Resources Authority (MWRA) in 2005, disinfects water from Wachusett and Quabbin Reservoirs using ozone. Other treatment processes include soda ash and carbon dioxide addition, fluoridation, and residual disinfection with chloramines. The tour will include new ultraviolet disinfection treatment currently under construction and scheduled to go into service in 2014.
