Variational Iteration and Adomian Decomposition Methods for Solving the KdV Equation: A Comparative Study

摘要

In this paper, the variational iteration method (VIM) and Adomian decomposition method (ADM) are utilized to find an approximate analytical solution of the Korteweg-de Vries (KdV for short) equation and then, the results of VIM and ADM are compared together. Comparison of the solutions obtained by these methods reveals that the VIM generate some extra terms with inaccurate coefficients; which because of these inaccurate coefficients, the solutions obtained by this method is not as accurate as those obtained via ADM.
