The evolution of social norms in conflict resolution

In her classic essay 'Collective Action and the Evolution of Social Norms', Elinor Ostrom (1990) provides us a guide to understanding not only collective action in institutions for managing common pool resources, but also to dispute system design in private systems of justice that increasingly characterize the economy of the United States. Her principles can help scholars work to improve access to justice.
