In a recent conference the speaker declared that the amount of published papers worldwide is duplicating every fifteen years, and since publication activities are being encouraged, specially in academia, this rate would increase even more. This affirmation did not address any specific topic or publication, or the way the papers were counted, but it would be expected that there are enough readers with time for assimilating such production. Would it be the same growing trend for microwave topics? Considering the results provided by Google with the key word "microwaves", the list of references provided by this search engine is impressive (143,000,000), hard to evaluate indeed, since the references range from valuable information to documents that just contained the selected key word, without any other relation with science or engineering. This number is about double than the references found for "The Beatles" (84,700,000), using the same search engine.
