Professor Walter Whitehead (1840–1913)

The prominent 20-metre high clock tower (Figure 1) in the memorial garden near Bury Town Hall in Lancashire was erected at the suggestion of Henry Whitehead as a memorial to his brother, Walter Whitehead, a retired surgeon. The tower is built in Portland stone with a copper canopy. The garden is also home to the town's war memorial.
