Osler Club of London

The Osler Club of London was founded in 1928 by Drs W Bett and Franklin to cherish their respect for Sir William Osler (1851–1919) and his love of the history of medicine. The earliest meetings were held in Franklin's home but nowadays they are convened at the Royal College of Physicians once a month (except in May, June, August, September and October) at 19:00 followed by a buffet supper. Meetings cover most aspects of the history of medicine, but naturally with a predilection for any topic associated with William Osler. The Council comprises the President, President-Elect, Vice-President, Honorary Treasurer and two secretaries, the librarian, archivist and six other members. Meetings are usually held in the College's Thomas Cotton Room, named in memory of a Canadian cardiologist, Oslerian, philanthropist, historian and benefactor of many worthy medical courses. The London Club has cordial relationships with the American Osler Society and some are members of both clubs. The two societies have enjoyed successful joint meetings.
