PROFESSOR VLADIMIR (LADO) BALADZE - ON HIS 60TH BIRTHDAY

Professor Vladimir (Lado) Baladze was born 09.08.1952 in the village of Gegelidzeebi (Qeda district of Georgia). After finishing the secondary school, he enrolled at the Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics of the Tbilisi State University and later he was a post-graduated student (aspirant) of the A. Razmadze Tbilisi Mathematical Institute. The circle of mathematical interests of Professor V. Baladze and his style was formed at the Chair of Geometry and Topology of the Tbilisi State University and the Department of Geometry and Topology of the A. Razmadze Tbilisi Mathematical Institute. Prominent Georgian topologists and algebraists worked at the above chair and department. They were led by Academician Chogoshvili, who founded the well-known Georgian School of abstract mathematics.
