At first glance Roy Hora's new book appears to be just an expansion of an element of his excellent and perceptive The Landowners of the Argentine Pampas (2001). It is that, but it is also something more. In the work under review, Hora examines the Liga Agraria (Agrarian League) and its political thought from its founding in 1891, in the wake of the economic and political turmoil of 1890, to its collapse in the early 1920s.
