摘要

Influenced by Daniel James' Resistance and Integration, a group of historians propose in The New Cultural History of Peronism 'to demonstrate the potential of a theoretically informed cultural history to chart a course ... and to produce a richer understanding of Peronism' (p. 2). The book partly fulfils its promise. Its introduction to cultural history, with its references to Geertz, Hunt et al., treads over some rather familiar ground, though it provides a good review of a quarter-century of production that will undoubtedly be useful to students new to the cultural turn in historical scholarship.
