L'auteur décrit sur près de 5000 ans l'évolution des critères esthétiques des artistes, peintres ou sculpteurs, qui ont représenté la pyramide nasale - en partant de la préhistoire, les grandes civilisations : grecque et romaine puis la renaissance, l'époque moderne avec les impressionnistes, les cubistes et les surréalistes. En conclusion, il fait un parallèle avec l'intervention de rhinoplastie et les différentes évolutions techniques selon les critères esthétiques des rhinoplasticiens et les différentes qualités humaines qu'ils doivent posséder pour maîtriser cette intervention.%The author describes over a period of five thousands years the evolution of the esthetical criteria of the artists, painters and sculptors who have represented the nasal pyramid. Starting from prehistorical times to great civilisations: Roman and Greek, then to the age of the Renaissance, and to end in the modern times with impressionism, cubism and surrealism. As a conclusion, he draws a parallel between rhinoplasty and the different technical evolutions, according to the esthetic patterns of the rhinoplasticians and the different human qualities they should have to master this technique.
