SECUR-ED: a major step towards improved mass transportation security

The SECUR-ED project, funded under the EU's Seventh Framework Programme (FP7), was launched in April 2011. The project constitutes a major, ambitious step towards improved mass transportation security (see our column in PTI 4/2011). As with any demonstration project, the objective of SECUR-ED is not to develop new concepts; instead the aim is to implement mission-oriented solutions in the real environment based on state-of-the-art developments and to carry out tests in ten public transport networks.
