By judgment of 23 April 2009, the European Court of Justice (ECJ) found the Belgian prohibition on joint offers to be contrary to the EU Unfair Practices Directive (2005/29/EC).rnThe Belgian Act concerning unfair commercial practices includes a prohibition on joint offers, that is, tying the acquisition (whether or not free of charge) of products, services, or other advantages to the acquisition of other (even identical) products or services. Similar rules also exist in France, although significantly less restrictive.
