You are the General Counsel of a multinational Fortune 500 company. You have just received a call from the HR Director to let you know that the head of research and development for the company, I.M. Sneaky, has resigned, effectively immediately. On the heels of that telephone call, you receive an email from the Director of Information Technology for the company alerting you to the fact that a review of the laptop computer that was assigned to Sneaky has uncovered some troubling information. Prior to his hasty, last minute departure from the company, Sneaky made copies of several sensitive files containing all the important research that has gone into the development of the company's new product line. Even more disturbing, after the files were copied, Sneaky used scrubbing software to erase the research files, computer protected passwords, R&D notes, and other sensitive material from his laptop computer. Unfortunately, there are no copies of this sensitive data to be found.
