Heightened security concerns in the form of identity theft and related crimes have fueled recent research and interest in biometric technology. Although this technology has introduced significant rigor into legal criminal proceedings through the use of fingerprinting and DNA matching, it has also increasingly been used to uniquely authenticate one's identity for many use cases.
