摘要

This paper highlights both vibration and oil analysis by ferrography for condition monitoring of the turbo generator set bearings. After overhauling of the machine i.e. at the start of the machine running or in case of new machine, the vibration do not give a true picture of the machine condition. Oil analysis by ferrography gives better idea of the machine deterioration, specifically at the early stage of the machine running. In this paper, vibration analysis, Fourier transform infrared technique and image processing of the ferrogram has been done for quantitative assessment of the deterioration. A real life case has been discussed in this paper.
