摘要

There is a growing interest in the high early strength of concrete due to the demands of construction industry. The high early strength of concrete way be attractive but durability of structure gets affected. The deterioration of concrete due to weather conditions is a worldwide phenomenon. The use of flyash concrete is one of the best options to increase the durability of concrete. Problems like low early strength and incompatibility and side effects of super plasticizersin flyash concrete can be overcome by the use of fine fillers like silica fum e and gro und gran ula ted blast furnace slag. Most of the in vestiga tions carried out so far are focussed on the use of reactive fine fillers. But the use of microfine heavy weight inert fillers in flyash concrete for durability enhancement, to the knowledge of the authors, is rarely found. In the present investigation the durability property, ie, the acid resistance of flyash concrete was studied and it was observed that the acid resistance of flyash concrete with microfine barytes filler was about 10 times that of portland cement concrete in terms of percentage loss in compressive strength.
