Performance Optimization of PV-Powered SRM-Driven Water Pump Using Modified Cuk Converter

摘要

This paper proposes a single-switch dual-output Cuk converter for an efficient and inexpensive photovoltaic (PV) array energized water pump. The proposed dual-output Cuk converter is utilized in between solar PV array and motor-pump as a DC-to-DC power conversion stage. The solar power maximization and to provide smooth start to switched reluctance motor drive are the prime targets of proposed converter. The presence of input inductor provides continuous supply to proposed system and minimizes the dimension of PV output capacitor. Besides, the placement of two output inductors with balanced voltages supply helps to provide the equal voltages across split capacitors of asymmetric converter and able to minimize the size of split capacitors. A deviation less maximum power point tracking controller is also utilized in proposed system to make it efficient. The speed of motor-pump system is regulated viz. variable DC link voltage across split capacitors. This method yields an opportunity to eliminate the motor side sensors.
