The Journal of Information Systems (JIS) employs a double-blind review process (i.e., the reviewers and the Associate Editor do not know the identity of the authors, and conversely, the authors do not know the identity of the reviewers or the Associate Editor). In addition, each reviewer does not know the identity of the other reviewer(s). The editor reads all submissions to verify that the manuscript is appropriate for the journal; manuscripts that address topics outside the scope of the journal are returned to the author. Occasionally, the editor may decide that although a manuscript is of potential interest to readers of JIS, it is not yet ready for review; in such cases the manuscript is returned to the author(s) along with a memorandum explaining what needs to done to make it suitable for review.
