Ubiquitous graphics allows people to run 3D graphics applications anywhere, any times and on various devices. However, mobile device's limitations in memory, CPU power, disk space, screen size and battery-life make it still difficult to load and manipulate very high resolution geometric models or run the sophisticated rendering algorithms. This paper presents a novel progressive mesh simplification and transmission scheme which adapt with different devices. We define a new Parallelogram Encoding Rule for mesh, which makes the mesh simplification and transmission in a streaming format. The rendering processing can starts immediately without waiting entire mesh date transmission completely. Considering the lower display resolution of mobile device, we also define a visibility factor of display resolution to make the simplification more efficient. Use of our algorithm may lead to significant reduction of memory and bandwidth required for simplifying and rendering mesh. Our algorithm runs in real time, handles graphics data of arbitrary size and topology.
