The spectral Yule-Nielsen modified Murray-Davies model was used to analyze the CMYK ramps printed. The optical n factor value minimizing the average colorimetric differences under different illuminants and the average sRMS between the measured and the estimated was determined. The relations between the theoretical colorant values and the effective colorant values for CMYK ramps (LUTs) were established. The YNSN model was then used to characterize the four-color overprinted patches and the optical n factor value was also to be found. Experimental results showed that the optical n factor values minimizing the colorimetric differences under different illuminants were different. The optical n factor value for the printer used in the experiment was about 0.9-1.1. At this moment, the average colorimetric differences under A, D50 and D65 illuminants were almost between 9 and 10, and the average sRMS was 0.018. That is to say, the YNSN model had showed very good results for the inkjet printers.
