Organic Waste Management in Pune Municipal Corporation: Issues and Strategy

Pune is the second largest city of Maharashtra state. There is no arrangement for segregation of waste at source. Katraj is nearly a waste free ward where 70% of the waste is segregated at source and treated. It is a known fact that even elaborate Municipal Solid Waste Management (MSWM) schemes also fail. Hence people in MSWM activity schemes should design appropriate MSWM plan, water and landfill gas monitoring system.
