Dear Members and Readers of Journal Well ! This is going to be my last Editorial as my tenure of Hon. Editor, Journal will be over with the publishing of this issue. But still I will keep preaching about Energy from all forms of waste, may be in the form of Solid waste or Sewage Water. Few months back through the books that IWWA library receives from various organizations, I came across the Journal published by Stockholm Water Institute named Stockholm Water Front - November 2014 issue. The front heading attracted my attention- which was FROM MUCK TO GOLD- The story of super sludge authored by Tom Freyberg of UK. In his paper he has made an startling revelation by mentioning that THE FIRST ANAEROBIC DIGESTION PLANT WAS BUILT AT LEPER COLONY IN BOMBAY IN 1859. Can you imagine this ? mentioning further he states that in 1895 biogas was recovered in South West England and used to fuel street lights in the Devon city of Extere. Tom further highlights that by harvesting phosphorous as a fertilizer from sludge, it also reduces reliance upon nature's own supplies.
