Techno-economic assessment of MBBRs treating municipal wastewater followed by different supplemental treatment strategies

Moving bed bioreactors (MBBRs) have beenwell documented in literature for wastewater treatment and are more practicable in small communities of developing countries.In the present study, techno-economic assessment of three field scale MBBRs with different post treatment strategies is presented. Results obtained from present study showed that combination of the MBBR and physico-chemical treatment is capable to achieve the more than 95 % chemical oxygen demand (COD removal.The cost of treatment, specific power consumption, and land usage for these systems was estimated as Rs ～12.50 (± 20%),～0.6 (±20%) KW-h/ m~3,and ～180 m~2 (±20%), respectively.
