PRELIMINARY INTEGRATED STUDY ON WATER QUALITY INDEX OF THREE TRIBUTARIES (KHAN, NARMADA AND KSHIPRA RIVER): INDORE

Narmada, Khan and Kshipra River are the tributaries having religious significance, flowing through the districts of Indore and Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh is subjected to varying degree of pollution caused by numerous untreated or partially treated waste inputs of municipal and industrial effluents. The present study assesses the WQI of these tributaries seasonally in post monsoon and winter season at 10 different sites. The physico-chemical parameters were measured. The WQI value in most of the stations were observed to be more than 100 in both the season indicating that the water quality is poor and totally unsafe for human consumption.
