A Critical Review of is 1893 part (ⅱ)- 2014 Code for Earthquake Resistant Design of Water Tanks

摘要

Indian code on earthquake resistant design was first published in 1962. It was revised for fourth time in 1984.In earlier revision all type of structures were designed by one code only. Now in fifth revision for every type of structure there is separate code. For buildings IS1893 part (I) 2002 has come which is also under revision. For water tanks IS1893 part (Ⅱ)-2014 has come for first time which is a separate code for earthquake resistant design of water tanks. This paper takes broad view of revision and improvements made as compared to earlier code. Also points for further improvements are suggested.
