摘要

The anaerobic treatment process is one of the most effective and eco-friendly solutions for the treatment of industrial effluents. It has been recognized for its ability for waste stabilization along with efficient capture and utilization of biogas. The fixed film bio-methanation reactor has the potential for treating industrial effluents having high organic content out of the many different configurations of bio-methanation reactors. It provides the advantage of increased biomass retention capacity without the necessity of biomass recirculation and reduces the harmful effect due to high suspended solid concentration. This paper reviews the various factors which affect the process of bio-methanation in a fixed film reactor such as pre-treatment, packing material, hydraulic retention time (HRT), organic loading rate (OLR), pH, total solids (TS), temperature, volatile fatty acids (VFA's). A comparison of various materials used as support media in fixed film reactors is done to analyse their efficiency.
