A STUDY OF PERFORMANCE OF COMMUNITY SCALE REVERSE OSMOSIS PLANTS IN JAIPUR, RAJASTHAN

摘要

Reverse Osmosis (RO) technology is a widely adopted technology for getting potable water from raw brackish/ saline water by passing it at high pressure through a thin film composite polyamide membrane. For serving small communities, RO plants are easy to install, operate and maintain and hence have been installed in large numbers in Rajasthan, where groundwater has a high concentration of dissolved salts. These units require moderate amount of energy to operate compared to other desalination processes. The use of RO desalination capacity worldwide has tripled in the last three decades and the market is expanding at a fast pace in India.
