This study evaluated effects of Dioctyl phthalate (DOP) and density changes on the physical and mechanical properties of wood flour/poly (vinyl chloride) composite panels using a conventional flat-press process under laboratory conditions. Three levels of DOP with PVC powder, wood flour and Calcium/Zinc (Ca/Zn) stearate were mixed. Each composition of three levels of DOP was made with two levels of density, 0.8 and 1 g/cm3. Totally six composition were made with three levels of DOP and two levels of density. Hardness, tensile strength, water absorption, and thickness swelling were measured. However, with decreasing DOP content and increasing density, hardness and tensile strength increased and water absorption decreased. DOP and density levels have not clearly effect on thickness swelling.
