The discussion predominantly dealt with items that were not part of the original study. Further, the discussers' recharacterization of information from the references and their extensive and repeated recharacterization of the material presented by the writer is a disservice. The original study was carefully scoped, and the results were presented accurately. The study used actual hydrological measurements of the conditions in conjunction with the most recent and complete information on the timing of terns and plover reproductive efforts.
