REHABILITATING VACANT UNITS: THE HOUSING AUTHORITY OF THE CITY OF LOS ANGELES

Due to budget constraints, the Housing Authority of the City of Los Angeles (HACLA) had been unable to rehabilitate 242 vacant units that were made unlivable through asbestos, and fire and water damage. Fortunately, with the help from the Recovery Act funds received in March of 2009, these units will scon bernavailable to Los Angeles's most vulnerable families, bringing 100 percent of its public housing units into service.
