HUD Publication Discusses Vacant and Abandoned Properties

HUD discussed causes and solutions to vacant and abandoned properties in the Winter 2014 issue of one of its periodicals, Evidence Matters. The report, entitled "Vacant and Abandoned Properties: Turning Liabilities Into Assets," explained that the absence of a universal definition of what constitutes a vacant or abandoned property makes it difficult to assess how many such properties exist in the United States. One 2011 report estimates there were about 10 million in 2010.
